SRAM DH Drive train is Bad Ass

In the battle for drive train supremacy  no one can say that SRAM is sitting on it's recent podium domination in the gravity and enduro world. All last year SRAM used their pro riders to test their new XO1 DH specific drive train technology in both World Cup Downhill and World Enduro Series to see how it would perform under the most strenuous of conditions. By looks of the podium results it apparently works more than just fine. But what is new? That's a good question and a legitimate one that us mere mortals should be asking. The answer - 1 x 7 drive train using an 11 speed chain an NO chain guide is the short answer. But the rear derailleur and rear hub is equally important and is further proof that SRAM is thinking the entire system through.

 

But how can that be good? Well, I don't want to be the spoiler here, but the new metal coating and hardening technology allows for lighter components with greater durability and a seven speed cassette means less shifting to get to the gear ratio you need. What about throwing chains by not using a chain guide? SRAM answers that too in the video. The design of the chain rings, cassettes, and derailleur is pure genius in my opinion, but don't take my word for it. Watch the video and get yourself enlightened.
