2009 Crank Worx winner Greg Watts has put on Five Ten shoes in his quest to defend this years title. Watts, one of the elite dirt jumpers and slope style competitors in the world made the switch to Five Ten to continue his rise as a dominant force on the scene.

Already considered to have one of the best bag of tricks on two wheels, Watts was spotted at Woodward West Sports Camp working on new ticks in the foam pit and riding his new Five Ten Freeriders. “This year I have a new bike and new shoes and came out here to work on some things and get used to them…but I was immediately comfortable with the shoe and its performance” beemed Watts.

While Five Ten dominates the downhill scene, this is the first real season for the company to get into the BMX, Dirt Jump and Freeride scene. “When I started looking for riders that match the Five Ten attitude, Greg’s name came up. When I met with him, it was a great match and he was open to checking out the shoe.” states Dean Henthorn, Five Ten’s Director of Action Sports. “ I believe Greg is one of the most talented and overlooked riders out there and we are thrilled to have him lead the team.”

Watts initial thoughts on the Freerider line-up of shoes..“I thought that they might be too sticky for jumping, but several times I almost missed a pedal and the shoes saved it for me. I’m hooked.”

Beside winning CrankWorx BC in 2009, Watts also took second at 26Trix contest in Austria, second at Crank Works Colorado along with Best Trick, second and best trick at the Claymore Challenge.

I am totally stoked about this year. I want to follow up last years success, and I know that I’m going to have to step up my game to do it and these rad shoes are going to help put me there!”
