Apart from the what the Cove Marketing department writes, we here at Bicycle World TV can tell you that this is an awesome bike. So much so that we bought one and broke it in a Whistler this year. We didn't set out to buy a new bike, in fact we have quite a famous name brand bike that we rode everywhere. That is until we rode the Cove STD. After borrowing the bike at the US OPEN and at Crankworks Colorado, we just could not believe how good this bike is. This bike will out-pedal any big bike on the market and descends like a full blown downhill rig. In fact, if the course isn't super gnarly, this bike would be better than a DH rig anyway to us. We outfitted ours with a Rock Shock Totem cause we love that fork, but it easily will handle a dual crown fork as well.

Our bike tipped the scales, with pedals and FOX coil over shock, at exactly 40lbs. It's not the lightest or the heaviest bike in the market, but we can attest that it is bullet proof. Best of all It pedals like a champ. You can race it downhill and ride it back to the top for the trophy presentation. If we put our hard earned dollars on one, we are confident in telling you get one and that you will not be sorry.

Contrary to what you're thinking, this bike is all about Skinnies, Trannies and Drops. But because it's a perfect do everything bike, it's acquired a lot of names. The kids out in Cali call it "Short Travel Downhill." The Brits simply sum it up as the "Standard" i.e. the standard by which all freeride bikes should be measured. Based on our rave reviewed Shocker platform, the Cove STD is a 7.5-inch freeride version of our super successful DH bike, but with the linkage engineered for optimized pedaling and a bottomless feeling shock progression. The Cove STD features a super stiff 1.5 head tube to run a single crown fork and an un-interrupted seat tube to let you slam or raise your saddle so you can go down like a pro and still climb to the max. Because hey, we don't all have a chair lift out our back door and nothing attracts the hotties like a sexy pair of well built legs. So the bike is all about fun, so you might as well have fun with the Acronym too; like "It's the only STD on the planet that's more fun after you get it than while you get it."
