7 Tips to Being a Rad CycloCross Spectator

7 Tips to Radness that you can use at this weekends AZ CycloCross Series Final.

The finals of the Arizona CycloCross season is going off this weekend in Gilbert and we want you go see the spectacle that cross is. Even if you are not a CX racer, you should get out and check it out because Cross is the most fun
form of bike racing to watch period. I have never raced cross because it looks too painful, but it is a damned good time to soak up the atmosphere and suffering.

If you would like to try it, you should give it a go. You can ride a MTB - (hint - pump up that tire pressure!) but you should hit up your local bike shop and see if you can borrow a proper cross bike from
anyone to get the real cross experience. You can even send an email to azcross.com and see it they know anyone who may be willing to share!

There is a category for everyone and the weather is going to be perfect for Cross.
DETAILS, DETAILS..Schedule, Location are all here

A big thanks to Arizona Local Sponsors Carlos O'Briens and Tribe MultiSport for supporting this rogue sport here in Arizona

Now that our pitch to support our local Cross series is complete, let me get on with the more helpful content to ensure your time at the race is the best it can be. So we compiled a list of how to be professional cross spectator.

7 Tips to being a Rad Cross Spectator -

1) Bring a bell, horn, or anything that makes a lot of noise - including your vocal chords and use them. You can't take it with you when you die, so use it up!

2) Have an attitude - A blend of cheerleader and drill sergeant works best. Having this attitude gives you cart-blanche to heckle the riders using creative jeers. The goal of every fan is to get the riders to attempt to ride over the obstacles or attack when their legs are completely blown. Some popular jeers include, comparing the riders effort to that of your sister or  little brother, or leading the other fans in a unison chant of "Ride it, Ride it Ride it" or Pedal, Pedal Pedal....

3) Position yourself at one of the riding obstacles, climbing sections or extremely tight difficult turns. This give you the opportunity to use any of the jeers previously mentioned.

Creativity is always welcome in Cross.

4) Bring single dollar bills. - This is a great incentive for pack fodder to continue the futile struggle of the race as they get lapped or pulled. Don't break out the dollars until its late in the race. You can get creative
where you place dollar bills on the course, on your body and well...you get the point.

5) Wear a costume yourself - this really separates the Professional Cross spectator from the amateurs.

6) Beverages - while it does not require alcohol to have fun, the right liquid discretely transported can sometimes lead to more creative costumes, more creative heckling and fun crowd watching.
Be sure to share any barley based offerings with thirsty riders working hard for your entertainment.

7) Wave an American or state flag. This is a sure fire way t
o get yourself into the cool pics race photographers shoot.

Rocking the unicorn Speedo, wrestling mask and an American flag, this guy is the tri-fecta of Super Fandom. We don't recommend trying this your first time out, unless you have an AWESOME attitude.
